As long as Similia can remember, the Real Estate Industry - from designing
rooms, to flipping houses, to selling homes - has always interested her. It took a
tragedy like Hurricane Katrina to give her the chance to manage the remodeling
and refurnishing of her two destroyed houses. The improvements she made to
these properties earned her the admiration of many in her community, and she was
able to sell one of these homes to a young couple, making their dreams come true.
It was this experience that gave her the inspiration and confidence to follow her
own dream and pursue a career in Real Estate.
Similia adores her family, whom she jokingly calls the Brady Bunch: three of his,
three of hers, and now 8 grandchildren ranging from 2 to 14 years old. Spending
time with her husband Mike and her children and grandchildren is just about her
favorite thing to do. Her beloved dogs Chloe and Suzie are an important part of
all family gatherings.
A passion for learning and personal growth has led Similia to pursue several
different areas of interest prior to becoming a Realtor. With a Bachelor’s of
Science degree from LSU and a Master’s degree in Business Administration from
UNO, Similia excels in the management and supervision of people, projects, and
services. As a Registered Neurodiagnostic Technologist, she enjoyed a 20 year
career in the health services industry, providing skillful yet compassionate care to
her many patients. Similia has also utilized her management skills as a Court
Appointed Special Advocates Supervisor, advocating for the best interest of
abused and neglected children in St. Tammany Parish. Throughout her various
successful careers in the Slidell area, her goal has remained consistent: improving
lives.
As a REALTOR, Similia aims to help people of all walks of life realize their
dreams of home ownership. In doing so, she strives to continue her life’s work of
improving lives and enriching our community as a whole.
"How far you go in life depends on your being tender with the young,
compassionate with the aged, sympathetic with the striving, and tolerant of the
weak and strong. Because someday in your life you will have been all of these."
